Mississippi Backwaters – Scenic and remote roads bordering the backwaters of the Mississippi River. On our way we must travel roads that provide some of the best views in the county!   

                           

Scenic Back Roads of Jo Daviess County – Remote and dramatic!  Some of the best scenery of the county. You will love these tours! We have a northern and a southern tour. We hope you will try both.

           

Red Neck/Blue Collar/White Knuckle – Travel back in time to Council Hills, IL; Schapville, IL; and New Diggings, WI located just over the border. It is a simpler life style. This tour is available Thursday - Sunday after 12:00 noon.

        

Stagecoach Trail – Retrace the Stagecoach route from Galena to Nora with points of interest along the way. On the way back we will travel through Apple Canyon State Park, the former site of historic Millville.

             

Apple Tour – Tour Apple River Fort State Historic site and Apple River Canyon State Park; if time allows, the tour will include Apple Canyon Lake. 

GalenaTerritory – Tour the Galena Territory, Eagle Ridge Resort & Spa, Lake Galena, Shenandoah Stables, private homes and breathtaking vistas.

Resorts – Visit as many Jo Daviess County resorts as possible; Eagle Ridge Resort & Spa, Chestnut Mountain & Goldmoor Inn.

       

Savanna Army Depot – Tour with us through this historic U.S. military munitions testing facility. View what is left of this grand old military base. This facility began testing 75-155 mm howitzers for WWI and it later produced the bombs used by Doolittle's Raiders to bomb Japan! This property is now being developed and sold to businesses and thousands of acres are dedicated to plant and wild life. The area has an abundance of deer and wild turkey. Great views of the Mississippi river. Railroad buffs would be interested in the Rock Island Technical Society located on the grounds.
               
 
Jo Daviess County History – See the remnants of the lead mining industry, visit the Apple River Fort and the site of one of the battles with Blackhawk, see the birthplace of Kraft Foods, and retrace the scenic route of the old stage coaches on the Stage Coach Trail.

         

Ghost Town – Learn about the towns and villages that built Jo Daviess County but no longer exist.
